@bengrue so I’m not working on any VERGE games techincally… unless updating old ika games sorta counts? In which case I still intend to finish updating Winter with its rebalancing. Currently I am working on a little 2d topdown Starship sim in Godot, mostly just to try and learn more about how it works! It’s turning into a good exercise. I would love to get back to the Verge museum project and get more games working and added to it. Maybe soon!

Great work! Note that though it DOES run, there are still bugs/unfinished elements, even considering it’s a demo. [image: BylRiIV.png]

Also, there’s a tactical (you can move as well as attack) battle system in Beyond Babel (winv2, game by Lucid Dreams - Choris, Infey) [image: v3B2YYn.png]

Hey @Chentzilla no worries, I thought it was a long shot. I don’t know about Zaratustra releasing a traditional battle system in Verge 2, I know there were a few. I’ll have another look through my archives when I get the chance and see if I can find anything that might match!

Loretian! You should join the discord, would be the easiest way to chat, and share files, hah! Invite link is https://discord.gg/5EVb3w7

@kildorf Hello, welcome to the website. I was an old user previous to the release of Verge 3 by Zarathustra. I had released a game by Vanilla Ice. It was hilarious the way verge ran the graphics.

Magnificent work zeromus, thank you so much! The github code works after a slight rewrite of the decrypt loop ending condition (e.g. cast the file header buffer directly to char* instead of going via int). That discovery you made about the unpacked music in the dos-version should suffice to circumvent the need of using it for the only strictly legal purpose though, so that’s good to know! Personally, however, I wanted to use the unpacker for something a bit more shady (getting the Drek animation the lazy way), but I can’t imagine the devs would have any problems with it given that it’s being used for private purposes only… O.o

Hey, Silencer. It looks like you CAN download it from the old site archive… https://archive.verge-rpg.com/downloads/view/232.html Just right-click on the Download button and Save As – it thinks it’s an “index.html”, but that’s actually a zip file. Rename it to aol_chronicles.zip (or whatever), and it seems to open okay. I haven’t tried to run it yet (on the wrong computer right now!) but it does unzip properly.

Worked for EA several years, got some health issues because of the stress and everything. I have mostly recovered, currently at a temporary job, and working on a new project, more ambitious than previous ones, but using some nice tools to organize my work (https://www.worldanvil.com). It’s titled “Record of the Dragon Goddess” It’s about a world created by a Dragon God, and how things don’t go as he expected. The story follows the actions of his two offsprings, Amaxis and Draxenath, as perceived from the mortals’ perspective. I have been working on an “Interview with the Dragon Goddess” as a form of introductory series of texts. Record of the Dragon Goddess blog I hope to join you on Discord soon.
