v2 - eldritch05 - You Only Live Thrice
v2 - eldritch05 - The Guy Who Mugged Me
Both of these were HoV contest entries I created with my step-brother. If I recall correctly, You Only Live Thrice’s system was exceedingly simplistic. The Guy Who Mugged Me’s system was somewhat more complex and correspondingly more buggy.
v3 - eldritch05 - Epic of Serinor
v3 - eldritch05 - Epic of Serinor: Legacy of Llygam
The Epic of Serinor game from the early 2000’s used a fully turn-based system as opposed to Dawnshadow’s more active system. (I’ve since added an “Age of Heroes” subtitle onto the old game/story in my notes to distinguish it from all the other Serinor stories I have.) Legacy of Llygam was another HoV entry (I think? It was some time-limited contest, because it was released unfinished.) and uses a Might and Magic first-person sort of system.
@bengrue so I’m not working on any VERGE games techincally… unless updating old ika games sorta counts? In which case I still intend to finish updating Winter with its rebalancing. Currently I am working on a little 2d topdown Starship sim in Godot, mostly just to try and learn more about how it works! It’s turning into a good exercise.
I would love to get back to the Verge museum project and get more games working and added to it. Maybe soon!
Hey @Chentzilla no worries, I thought it was a long shot. 🙂 I don’t know about Zaratustra releasing a traditional battle system in Verge 2, I know there were a few. I’ll have another look through my archives when I get the chance and see if I can find anything that might match!
The github code works after a slight rewrite of the decrypt loop ending condition (e.g. cast the file header buffer directly to char* instead of going via int).
That discovery you made about the unpacked music in the dos-version should suffice to circumvent the need of using it for the only strictly legal purpose though, so that’s good to know! Personally, however, I wanted to use the unpacker for something a bit more shady (getting the Drek animation the lazy way), but I can’t imagine the devs would have any problems with it given that it’s being used for private purposes only… O.o
Worked for EA several years, got some health issues because of the stress and everything. I have mostly recovered, currently at a temporary job, and working on a new project, more ambitious than previous ones, but using some nice tools to organize my work (https://www.worldanvil.com). It’s titled “Record of the Dragon Goddess”
It’s about a world created by a Dragon God, and how things don’t go as he expected. The story follows the actions of his two offsprings, Amaxis and Draxenath, as perceived from the mortals’ perspective. I have been working on an “Interview with the Dragon Goddess” as a form of introductory series of texts. Record of the Dragon Goddess blog
